The Task and Service Index is the 'content database' for DfE Connect and is an internal DfE tool to enable teams to see the scope of what the department is asking school business professionals to do and when.
It documents the tasks they need to do throughout the year, and the support that we provide as a department to help carry them out. These tasks are collated from DfE services.
It covers the range of 'non-teaching' tasks including: Buildings and infrastructure
- Finance
- Governance
- Procurement
- Pupils
- Staff and HR
The TSI features tasks broken down by:
- type of task
- size of task
- intended audience
- level of support needed to complete the task
- which team or individual owns the tasks or service
- key dates for e.g. submission
- whether the task is mandatory or optional
Along with content for DfE Connect, the TSI data is also used for valuable insights. For instance we can look at the spread of tasks throughout the year to support prioritisation and planning.
