We previously created a way for users to add risk ratings for a project.

User research

After testing this journey in user research, we learnt that some regional delivery officers (DOs) don't know what a risk appraisal form (RAF) is or haven't filled one in before.

As well as an overall risk rating for a project, the RAF prompts DOs to enter risk ratings for:

  • education
  • governance
  • finance

Our current journey asks users to enter risk ratings for these 3 categories, as well as an RAF SharePoint link. If users haven't entered this information before, they may feel frustrated by needing to enter it when creating a new risk entry.

Iteration

We iterated the risk rating journey so that:

1. Users do not need to enter the category risk ratings or a SharePoint link. It will be mandatory for users to enter an overall risk rating, like in our previous design.

2. Users' answers from the previous risk rating entry will be pre-filled when creating a new entry. It's possible that the risk ratings and RAF SharePoint link may not have changed since the last time a user added an entry. However, they may still want to create an entry to show that they have reviewed the risk rating.

We'll test these iterations in user research with DOs.
