In a previous prototype version, we showed 3 links in the setting-up part of the task list:
- Risk appraisal
- Dates
- Project development grant
We decided to add 4 more links in a new prototype version:
- School
- Trust
- Region and local authority
- Constituency
Why we added more tasks
The School Places Analysis (SPA) team believe that the following school details are important for reporting:
- local authority
- geographical region
- constituency
- constituency MP
- number of forms of entry
- school type (mainstream, AP etc)
- school phase (primary, secondary)
- age range
- gender
- nursery
- sixth form
- independent converter
- faith status
- faith type
- trust ID
- trust name
- trust type
When uploading projects into the system, SPA provide all of the above data except:
- gender
- nursery
- constituency
- constituency MP
- independent converter
After speaking with SPA and our product manager, we agreed that regional delivery officers (DOs) would add this missing data when managing the free school project.
Instead of creating one task for nursery in the task list, another for gender et cetera, we grouped the information SPA needs into categories. For example, gender and nursery went into a school category, whilst constituency and constituency MP felt best on their own in a constituency category.
For the School category, it did not make sense that gender and nursery could be edited by DOs, but information uploaded by SPA like age range could not be edited. We created rows in the school task where DOs could edit the information uploaded by SPA. We did this for all 4 categories.
Project overview
We had a Project status section and a School details section in a previous 'project overview' page, which included all of the information in the 4 categories. However, the categories would not match up to these 2 sections, so we decided to add the categories to the new 'project overview' page.
We added all categories except constituency as we were told by an SME (subject matter expert) that this information was not important for DOs to see on the project overview. DOs can still add this information in the task list for SPA's reporting needs.
Testing with users
We'll continue testing the setting-up and project overview sections with DOs, and iterate based on feedback.
