Context
When researching the needs of providers, we found when using the copy content from another course feature, they struggled to identify the course they wanted to take content from.
Currently, the dropdown only provides the course name and course code:
What we did
To improve identifying the right course to copy content from, we added the following course information:
- fee or salary
- qualification
- full time or part time
- start date
- age range (primary only)
We included similar logic to the course list, where we don’t display the information if it’s all the same. For example, if a provider only offers one start date, we don’t display this in the dropdown options.
User testing
We tested the designs with 4 providers in July 2026, and it tested well.
The additional course information gave participants confidence when copying information.
Some participants who are accredited providers would like the ability to copy content across organisations, which is currently not possible.

We will be building these changes into the service.
