Layout and content changes
- copy revisited and heavily condensed to greatly reduce cognitive load and easier to take in
- advice for receiving detailed responses from tuition partners is now contained inside a details component so it’s more prominent.
Why we did this
This page is also quite dense with text (current word count is 179 words) that look even busier on a small screen.
- reducing the word count to 97 - that’s a 54% reduction - to reduce cognitive load and makes it less busy on mobile
- move the all-to-action (CTA) green button to the bottom
- shortening the copy overall without losing meaning
- remove heading ‘when you can expect a response’ and blend the timeframe TPs have to contact
- remove heading ‘Before you start’
- put the ‘Before you start’ content into a details component change the title to ‘How to get quality responses from tuition partners’ as a way of encouraging people to use this as good advice
- remove the sentence ‘You’ll need to have an email address.because it’s implicate (and it’s a duplicate) in the ‘We’ll ask you for an email address so that you can receive notifications from tuition partners.’
A few quick examples
During user research, all participants got this design and moved on without any ‘allergic reactions. A participant noticed the details component - it ‘stood out to him’ and he liked the idea that there was help
