Previously we did not explain this to users or how to fix it.

In designing something to solve this problem, we referred to empty state content research by Prepare conversions and transfers (Prepare).

We also adapted Prepare's design (prototype password: conversions) using browser prototyping.

This involved:

  • removing the 'there are no matching results' content. This felt like a duplicate of '0 results found'
  • editing the suggestions on how to improve results so they matched our context

Next steps

We will:

  1. Add this design to our build
  2. Add a success banner to the design, like Prepare's.
  3. Validate our assumptions about Prepare's design through user research.
