The National Tutoring Programme (NTP) was put into place to help children set back by COVID catch-up with their learning.
Tutoring was selected as a key mechanism for this catch-up process, and it was determined that external tuition partners (TPs) were one of the best routes to get extra tutoring capacity into schools quickly, alongside using recent graduates via Academic Mentoring.
A digital service on GOV.UK was developed to help schools find high quality tutoring resources. This is called the Find a tuition partner service.
The scope of this design history will cover the time between October 2022 to June 2023.
Service vision
We make it easy for schools to connect with accredited high quality tuition partner (TP) so disadvantaged children can catch up on their education and gain confidence in learning.
Service mission
Maximise the value we can deliver to users against the lifetime of NTP. Deliver in a sustainable way that supports future strategy and NTP legacy ambitions.
Service goals
- support schools to make effective decisions around tutoring
- reduce the barriers to accessing high quality tuition
- simplify the process of utilising tuition in schools
